Job summary

The Committee of Interns and Residents (CIR) is seeking a Worksite Organizer for the UC San Diego team in the San Diego, California area. You will engage physician members, build CIR presence at the hospital worksite, and develop leaders to strengthen collective bargaining efforts and workplace conditions.

You will coordinate with delegates, recruit new members, meet recruitment goals, and support campaigns and grievances.

Qualifications

• Previous union or organizing experience is preferred.
• Ability to develop member leaders to identify issues and strategize.
• Commitment to social justice and union organizing model.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage conflict and work in a team environment.
• Strong planning and time management abilities.
• Willingness to travel to field assignments and irregular hours.
• Residency in the San Diego area or willingness to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute national programming with a team of organizers.
• Identify, recruit, train, and support delegates and worksite leaders.
• Meet membership recruitment and PAC goals at chapters.
• Engage members in union activities and campaigns.
• Build worksite communication, mobilization, and leadership structures.
• Support grievance procedures and enforce contracts.
• Participate in community coalition-building and campaigns.
• Prepare work plans, calendars, files, and records.
