Job summary

Live role at Rutherford Regional Health System, part of Lifepoint Health, seeking a Switchboard Operator to manage calls, codes, and paging with confidentiality. This position supports emergency communications and guest services in a busy hospital setting.

Ideal candidates are reliable, detail-oriented and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays to keep vital communications flowing 24/7.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with patients, visitors, staff and responders.
• Ability to stay calm, prioritize, and act in emergencies.
• Comfort working with multiple phone and paging systems.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Willingness to work varied shifts in a 24/7 hospital.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize and respond to calls, emergencies, and urgent requests.
• Coordinate with hospital staff, responders, and security.
• Route calls and inquiries while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Deliver overhead announcements, code pages, and disaster notifications.
• Operate switchboards, radios, phones, paging systems, and data entry.
• Maintain accurate call logs, room status, admissions, and disaster files.
