Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA seeks a Security Officer to patrol and monitor assigned areas under the direction of the Senior Manager, Security Services. Responsibilities include responding to life safety issues, conducting rounds, detaining unauthorized individuals, and coordinating with police when necessary.

The role requires basic computer skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and relevant security/healthcare experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• AVADE (Workplace Violence Prevention training within three months of hire).
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated basic computer skills.
• Good judgment and ability to interpret instructions.
• 1 year experience in security/healthcare or law enforcement preferred.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.
• Handcuffing certification within 2 weeks of hire.
• IAHSS basic certification within 90 days of hire.
• Exposure to OC spray and related safety protocols.
• BLS within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilités

• Respond to security and life safety issues as needed.
• Conduct interior security, patrols of buildings and grounds (minimum 4 rounds per shift).
• Detain or question unauthorized individuals when appropriate and notify police when necessary.
• Operate and maintain security equipment and alarms; document malfunctions.
• Inspect parking areas, entrances, and exterior lighting; enforce parking policies.
• Complete shift reports and incident documentation accurately and timely.
• Support hospital disaster drills and emergency response.
• Provide crowd control and assist in emergencies as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies.
