Job summary

Mass General Brigham at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, MA, seeks a Security Officer to patrol, monitor, and protect patients and staff under the Senior Manager of Security Services. You will respond to incidents, enforce safety policies, and document actions during 40-hour weeks with evening shifts.

The role requires a high school diploma, weekend/holiday availability, and certifications including IAHSS, Handcuffing, and BLS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AVADE (Workplace Violence Prevention training) within three months of hire.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills required.
• 1 year experience / 21 years of age.
• Healthcare or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Availability to work weekends and holidays required.
• Completion of Handcuffing certification within 2 weeks of hire.
• IAHSS basic certification within 90 days of hire.
• Exposure to OC spray and BLS within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Respond to security and life safety issues as needed.
• Tour buildings and grounds, minimum 4 rounds per shift.
• Question unauthorized persons and coordinate with police when needed.
• Operate fire equipment and document safety violations.
• Check for weapons or contraband per staff requests and notify police when appropriate.
• Maintain daily shift reports and incident documentation.
• Enforce parking policy and assist with lighting and facility safety.
• Support hospital disasters, drills and emergencies as required.
