Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a dedicated security professional to safeguard patients, staff, and property across hospital facilities. You will conduct investigations, complete detailed reports, and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.

The role includes patrols, monitoring alarms and CCTV, and ensuring safe access for emergency services. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• IAHSS Basic exam completed within 90 days of hire.
• Maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) within 9 months of hire.
• Defensive Tactics in Healthcare training within 6 months of hire.
• Healthcare security, police work or military service preferred.
• FOID card preferred if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Investigates/quells hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain patient, visitor, and employee security.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Notifies city officials (police and fire) and prepares reports for supervisory personnel.
• Patrols hospital buildings and grounds, on foot and with a vehicle, to protect people and property.
• Investigates hazardous conditions, theft, criminal activity, and safety issues.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and CCTV systems.
• Controls traffic to ensure emergency access for vehicles, patients, and visitors.
• Escort staff to their vehicles when requested.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
