Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff, and visitors across hospital campuses in Illinois. You will patrol grounds, monitor alarms and video systems, and respond promptly to incidents to maintain safety and order.

The role requires a high-school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and certifications including IAHSS Basic and BLS. A background check is conducted as part of the process, with training provided to ensure professional service.

Qualifications

• High-school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Successful completion of IAHSS Basic exam within 90 days of hire; maintain IAHSS Basic certification.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through American Heart Association within 9 months of hire.
• Successful completion of Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Investigates/quells hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain patient, visitor, and employee security.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Monitors access control system, fire and duress alarms, and security video system.
• Performs regular patrols of hospital buildings and grounds to protect patients and property.
• Responds to emergency codes according to department guidelines.
• Provides escorts for staff to their vehicles and handles transportation of deceased bodies as required.
