Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support certification within 9 months of hire.
• Northwestern Medicine Defensive Tactics in Healthcare within 6 months of hire.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse individuals.
• Writing skills to complete reports and paperwork to standards.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and quells hospital incidents and disturbances to maintain security.
• Completes descriptive reports for supervisory personnel.
• Notifies city officials (police and fire) and prepares reports for supervisors.
• Performs regular perimeter and internal patrols of hospital buildings and grounds.
• Investigates incidents of hazards, theft, and security issues as reported.
• Monitors access control, alarms, and video system.
• Controls traffic to ensure emergency access and patient/visitor access.
• Provides escorts for staff to their vehicles as requested.
• Responds to emergency codes per guidelines.
• Alerts management to activities or deviations requiring action.
• Enforces hospital policies and presents a professional service image.
• Conducts contraband searches as needed.
• Oversees parking permit process and compliance.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
