Job summary

Tufts Medical Center, Inc. is seeking a full-time security professional to protect hospital assets and people. You will patrol buildings and grounds, respond to incidents, escort individuals, and enforce access control with professionalism.

Preferred candidates have law enforcement training or criminal justice education, security certifications, and prior security or first responder experience. Excellent customer service and composure under pressure are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state issued driver’s license.
• Graduate of an approved law enforcement training program or Police Academy (preferred).
• Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related area (preferred).
• Experience in military, security, or police (preferred).
• Security or first responder certifications such as CPR/AED, CPI, NCI, AVADE, MOAB, MDTS, Stop the Bleed, or Nasal Naloxone (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform basic public safety and security duties: patrol facilities and grounds, respond to routine and emergency calls, monitor alarms, and screen vendors and visitors.
• Provide escorts to patients, visitors, staff and others according to procedures.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and safety hazards; take corrective action and document deficiencies.
• Assist in patient crisis interventions using the least invasive, safest methods.
• Ensure staff and others carry and display hospital ID badges; verify access control.
• Restrict access to non-authorized individuals as required by policy.
• Maintain composure under stress; apply de-escalation techniques.
• Deliver excellent customer service and professionalism to patients and staff.
• Other duties as assigned by department leadership.
