Job summary

Hospital for Special Care seeks a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment by preventing incidents, de-escalating crises, and supporting clinical staff. You will patrol facilities, monitor for unauthorized access, and report hazards promptly, ensuring smooth operations across departments.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, assisting with parking and visitor management, and maintaining security through vigilant oversight of hospital grounds and building perimeters.

Qualifications

• Sound interpersonal and written communications skills.
• Able to deal with all people in a variety of situations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrates good judgment, flexibility in changing circumstances and compassion.
• State of Connecticut Security Officer Identification Card.
• Valid State of Connecticut driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment by preventing and de-escalating crises and supporting clinical staff during behavioral incidents.
• Patrol areas to prevent fires, thefts, vandalism, and other crimes.
• Check for unauthorized persons entering and direct people on parking.
• Report hazardous conditions and take corrective action when possible.
• Work closely with hospital departments and service lines to resolve mutual issues.
• Maintain visibility throughout the hospital and report incidents to the shift Supervisor.
