Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC Receiving Hospital is seeking a Security professional to protect staff, patients and property. The role requires patrolling, visitor checks, access control, and incident reporting to maintain a safe hospital environment.

The position includes responding to emergencies, assisting with patient safety, and collaborating with security and hospital teams. Night shifts may apply, with opportunities for further training and career development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4 years security/public safety experience.
• Two years of college coursework in criminal justice or related field, plus 3 years security/public safety experience.
• Completion of Michigan MCOLES-certified police academy with 3 years of security/public safety experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related area with internship/volunteer security exposure.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license; eligible to drive DMC vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Presents visible security presence and patrols assigned areas to deter crime and safety hazards.
• Provides information to patients, guests and staff; checks badges and IDs to control access.
• Assists with escorts, door opening/locking, and emergency access as needed.
• Investigates parking, safety and security complaints; documents events and investigations.
• Patrols parking areas; directs traffic as required; observes hazardous conditions.
• Monitors alarms, cameras, gates and security equipment; answers public inquiries.
• Pursues education in criminal law, first aid, and defensive tactics.
• Assists in releasing bodies from morgue when needed.
• Responds to Emergency Codes per hospital policies.
• Promotes DMC values such as quality, teamwork, and effective communication.
