Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Security Officer for the Mount Sinai West location. This full-time evening/weekend role involves patrolling hospital property, ensuring safety, and coordinating with supervisors as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, at least 1 year of security experience in an institutional or law enforcement setting, and a valid New York State Security Guard certification with NY driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of security officer experience in an institutional or law enforcement setting.
• New York State Security Guard certification and NY license are required.

Responsibilities

• Patrols hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
• Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises; confront unauthorized persons as needed.
• Reports safety and/or fire hazards or security violations.
• Responds to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel and visitors.
• Participates in investigations; maintains records and prepares incident reports and other documents pertinent to security activities.
• Secures and/or unlocks offices and facilities as required.
• Secures patient valuables or lost and found items; maintains logs of items received.
• Maintains hospital and department policies, safety, and infection control.
• Maintains department supplies and equipment; requisitions as needed.
• Uses hospital vehicles in emergencies to secure emergency life-saving equipment outside the institution.
• Provides restraints of psychiatric patients as needed; escorts personnel to parking lots and buildings.
