Job summary

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital – Food and Nutrition is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to assist with patient room service calls and relay diet needs to dietitians. You will process diet orders, update patient files, and ensure tickets align with diet orders and allergies.

The role requires 6 months to 1 year in hospitality, a high school diploma or GED, and basic computer skills. Flexible hours include weekends/holidays. Benefits eligible as part of Advocate Health.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 6mos-1yr experience in hospitality.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English clearly.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (e.g., T.I.D., B.I.D.).
  • Math skills: conversions of oz, cc, ml.

Responsibilities

  • Answers room service phone calls to obtain menu selections from patients and/or patients families.
  • Communicates special patient needs to dietitians.
  • Follows physician’s diet orders for all patients and updates patient files in the computer.
  • Ensures meal tickets align with diet orders, allergies and identifiers.
  • Updates nourishment orders to meet diet orders.
  • Communicates between nursing, host/hostess, and kitchen staff to clarify orders and provide prompt service.
