Chicago Behavioral Hospital in Des Plaines, IL is hiring a Hospital Reimbursement Specialist. The role is full-time, daytime, with an hourly range of $22.00–$26.00 and a monthly bonus eligible. You will handle carrier follow-ups, corrections, denials, and appeals to ensure timely reimbursement.

You will verify benefits, read UB-04s, and maintain accurate documentation while collaborating across departments. On-site with growth opportunities and standard benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Minim 1 year in healthcare collections or related field

Responsibilities

Hospital Reimbursement Specialist

Job Location: Chicago Behavioral Hospital - Des Plaines, IL 60016
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $22.00 - $26.00 hourly
Travel: None
Shift: Day
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Monthly bonus eligible. Onsite with many opportunities for advancement.

Key Tasks

• Contact carriers for follow-up to collect unpaid facility claims in a timely and accurate manner.
• Submit account corrections and adjustments.
• Manage denials, payment variances, and appeal submissions as required.
• Work with management to identify trends and address root causes of accounts receivable issues.
• Collaborate with team members and departments; communicate effectively to resolve accounts within required timeframes.

Job Related Skills

• Understanding of third‑party payor rules and regulations.
• Ability to read UB‑04 forms and EOBs.
• Take necessary action for account resolution in accordance with established federal and state regulations.
• Verify benefits via online portal or over the phone.
• Understand payor contracts and verify correct payment from insurance companies.
• Identify next steps required when a claim has been denied or rejected.
• Excellent communication skills for accurate documentation.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience in health‑care collections or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
• Experience with insurance billing, computer and business software programs (Excel) preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); basic PC skills required.
• Basic medical terminology knowledge.

Compensation

This is a full‑time position with an hourly rate of $22.00 – $26.00, plus monthly bonus eligibility. Compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
