Job summary

Piedmont McDuffie Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to protect patients, staff and visitors while maintaining a safe hospital environment. The role involves screening for weapons, monitoring facilities, and responding to emergencies with professional judgment.

The ideal candidate has a GED or high school diploma, may have 2 years of security/public safety experience, and will obtain IAHSS certification within a year. A valid Georgia DL and mandatory training are required.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required.
• No experience required; 2 years in general security/public safety preferred.
• Driver license in state; comply with Piedmont's Vehicle Safety Program.
• IAHSS certification within 1 year required.
• Pre-employment psychological screening required.
• Must complete training for TASER/ASP/Mental Health First Aid and other directives.
• P.O.S.T. certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and emergency security for patients, staff, visitors, and property.
• First responder to incidents; de-escalate combative or escalating individuals.
• Screen for weapons and maintain hospital security across facilities.
• Document incidents and assist with initial investigations.
• Monitor at‑risk patients and respond to aggressive behavior.
• Direct traffic when needed and assist with emergencies.
