The position requires a High School diploma or GED, with no experience required and 2 years in general security preferred. Candidates must obtain IAHSS certification within a year and complete mandatory trainings

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• No experience required; 2 years in security or public safety preferred.
• DL number — Valid driver license in state required.
• IAHSS security officer certification within 1 year required.
• Pre-employment psychological screening required.
• Must complete certifications in Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and related trainings.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate Piedmont values and excellent customer service to patients, staff and visitors.
• Screen for weapons entering a facility.
• Maintain security of hospital, professional buildings, and parking lot/deck.
• Perform routine safety and emergency security activities.
• Document incidents and conduct initial investigations.
• Monitor at-risk patients and de-escalate situations.
• Respond to aggressive behavior and apply restraints.
• Document in the medical record.
• Enforce PHC policies and applicable laws.
• Direct traffic when required.
• Assist patients and visitors by giving directions and responding to emergencies.
• Support crime prevention and secure work environment through observation and intervention.
