Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer in Youngstown to provide protective services for patients, visitors and staff. This PRN, as-needed role supports internal and external safety, including patrols, escorts and incident documentation across hospital grounds.

Responsibilities include enforcing policies, monitoring CCTV, and participating in emergency procedures while maintaining a professional, on-site presence and complying with required training and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Vocational/Technical Degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• BLS Basic Life Support required within 6 months of hire.
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts and patrols.
• Deterrence of criminal activity through routine patrols of hospital property.
• Enforce policies including parking, visitation, and tobacco-free rules.
• Monitor activity with CCTV and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Document duties with daily logs and incident reports.
• Assist in emergency procedures, alarms, evacuations and disaster plans.
• Maintain post assignments, vehicle cleanliness and professional presentation.
• Complete required education and maintain certifications/licensure.
