Job summary

Mercy Health in Youngstown, OH is seeking a Police Officer to provide internal and external safety functions, respond to emergencies, patrol hospital grounds, and enforce policies to protect patients, visitors and staff. You will document incidents and participate in investigations while remaining professional on your post.

Responsibilities include escorting people, monitoring CCTV, handling disputes, maintaining equipment, and completing required training such as BLS and firearms

Qualifications

• Requires valid driver’s license
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire)
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification (required within 6 months of hire)
• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Associate’s degree (preferred)
• 1-3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience (preferred)
• Non-violent crisis intervention training (required within 6 months of hire)
• Firearms qualifications; bi-annual requalification

Responsibilities

• Protects patients, visitors and employees by patrolling grounds and assisting with safety.
• Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of hospital property.
• Enforces policies including parking, visitation, and tobacco-free policies.
• Monitors CCTV for escalating situations requiring protective services involvement.
• Documents duties and completes daily activity logs and incident reports.
• Responds to emergencies and alarms; assists in evacuations and disaster plans.
• Maintains equipment and pipelines for safety compliance and post duties.
