Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Des Moines, IA, seeks a full-time Power Plant Operator to ensure the proper operation of stationary engines, boilers, and the central plant that serves hospital facilities.

You will monitor and adjust systems, perform chemical checks on water, and maintain equipment reliability, with responsibilities including emergency generator testing and attention to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Specialized or technical training completed.
• Two years of experience in a power plant setting.

Responsibilities

• Operates, adjusts, and regulates boilers, compressors, generators, pumps, chillers, and building management systems.
• Observes meters and gauges and adjusts valves to meet readings.
• Records readings in the logbook.
• Tests water and adjusts chemicals to maintain water quality.
• Maintains boilers, including oiling, greasing, and cleaning.
• Inspects equipment and adheres to safety regulations.
• Test emergency generators and ensure proper function.
• Reset Pneumatic tube system when requested and keep plant clean.
• May work at other Mercy facilities as required.
