Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa is seeking an Operating Engineer to operate, maintain and monitor boilers, chillers, generators, medical gas systems and associated building utilities. The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, accuracy in record-keeping, and the ability to work within the MercyOne mission and safety standards.

The incumbent will manage water testing, safety protocols and building automation while collaborating with environmental services and medical staff.

Qualifications

• High school graduate with 3 years experience supporting industrial equipment or operating boiler systems
• OR 2 year HVAC degree
• Must obtain a certified boiler operator license within 12 months via Iowa Association of Building Maintenance Engineers
• Must have or obtain a valid driver’s license and be able to wear a mask and be fit tested annually

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and monitor high-pressure boilers and their support systems
• Operate, maintain and monitor chillers and chilled water systems
• Maintain domestic water and hydronic heating/cooling distribution equipment
• Operate air handling systems and monitor associated components
• Perform daily water testing and maintain chemical levels
