Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Newark, NJ. Under pharmacist supervision, you will prepare, dispense, store and distribute medications for patients of all ages within the Pharmacy Department.

A typical day includes handling medication orders, restocking automated dispensers, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and supporting medication safety and patient care teams. Must be NJ-registered; PTCB encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program or a minimum of two years of experience.
• Registration with the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy required.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepares, dispenses, stores, and distributes medications and pharmaceutical products.
• Delivers medications to patient care areas under pharmacist supervision.
• Replenishes Pyxis and other automated dispensing systems.
• Performs sterile and non-sterile compounding following safety protocols.
• Maintains documentation and reports medication interventions and errors.
• Ensures storage areas are clean and up-to-date with current products.
• Assists with restocking emergency medication trays and inventory.
• Adheres to confidentiality and organizational policies.
