Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Pharmacy department at RWJUH Hamilton Hospital. Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, you will participate in medication reconciliation and ensure accurate dispensing processes.

Responsibilities include processing orders, refilling unit-dose bins, maintaining dispensing machines, and preparing outpatient prescriptions. Certification, English fluency, and a proactive, team-oriented approach are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
• PTCB certification required within six months of hire date.
• Prior pharmacy technician experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Collecting and processing medication orders prior to distribution.
• Drug distribution: refilling unit-dose medication bins and delivering contents to nursing units.
• Maintenance of all automatic dispensing machines
• Removing expired medication from stock
• Restocking code carts
• Preparing and labeling outpatient prescriptions
• Preparing and labeling extemporaneously compounded non-sterile pharmaceuticals
• Sterile and non-sterile product preparation
• Performing required calculations for all medication dispensing and compounding
• Using aseptic techniques
• Maintains the integrity of laminar air flow hoods by cleaning and following procedures
• Monitoring IV schedules and unused IV solutions on select nursing units to increase efficiency and avoiding waste
