Qualifications

• Minimum of six months previous hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Requires successful completion of on-the-job training in each area of the department within the first six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Fills medications and IV orders from computer-generated labels, updates cassette drawers, delivers medications to care areas.
• Answers telephone/window/visitor inquiries and directs drug information questions to a pharmacist.
• Prepares prepackaged medications under pharmacist supervision using proper technique and logs activities.
• Prepares parenteral, admixture, anti-neoplastic and Home IV Therapy orders under pharmacist supervision.
• Keeps work area clean, maintains par levels and inventories; reviews and handles narcotic inventory and CD module returns.
• Delivers or retrieves medications as supervised; participates in Transitional Care Unit activities.
• Completes IV/admixtures lab competencies and maintains confidentiality of hospital information.
