Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in paraprofessional tasks and support high-quality pharmacy service in a busy hospital setting. This role contributes to patient safety and efficiency in the IV lab and dispensing areas.

Qualifications include a High School diploma, Texas State Board registration or Pharmacy Intern license, and preferred IV certification and 1 year hospital pharmacy experience. Weekend and weekday shifts with on-site work are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• IV certification preferred.
• Registered with Texas State Board of Pharmacy or Pharmacy Intern License.
• 1 year of Pharmacy experience preferred.
• Hospital Pharmacy experience preferred.
• Computer skills preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Answers the telephone and front window.
• Comounds products in IV Lab using sterile, aseptic technique.
• Gathers items needed for requisitions, orders, crash carts, etc. to be checked by pharmacist prior to dispensing.
• Maintains clean and orderly work area; restocks returned medications and restocks work area to appropriate levels.
• Assists in maintaining inventory levels of pharmaceuticals and supplies by notifying purchasing when items become low or usage increases.
• Maintains drug storage systems through restock and trouble-shooting functions.
• Maintains Unit Inspections outside the department.
• Makes scheduled rounds to all nursing units for delivery and pick-up of medications and orders as needed.
• Makes non-scheduled rounds to any nursing unit as required.
• Performs charges and credits for floor stock sheets, narcotic sheets, etc., into the computer system.
• Processes medications in OR, IV lab, first fill areas in preparation of final dispensing by the pharmacist.
• Trains new employees as assigned.
• Other duties as assigned
