Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing medications and maintaining patient records. Under direct supervision, you will perform both technical and clerical duties, ensuring accuracy and safety in medication preparation, delivery, and inventory management.

Requirements include high school diploma or equivalent, Michigan Pharmacy Technician license, and PTCB/NHA certification preferred.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. College courses or higher degree preferred.
Licenses: Michigan Pharmacy Technician License or related licenses; temporary/licensure options may apply with timelines.
Certifications: PTCB or NHA certification preferred; must obtain if not yet certified within 1 year or 3 attempts.
Preferred experience: 1–2 years of hospital or retail pharmacy experience.
ASHP/USP 797 aseptic technique certification is preferred.
Strong math skills and accurate, independent work style.

Responsibilities

Procure and distribute medication orders per physician or pharmacist request.
Maintain a clean, safe working environment; assist in drug setup and filling.
Prepare IV admixtures or sterile products accurately.
Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas; restock and label as needed.
Maintain logs, documentation, and secure medication storage; handle controlled substances records.
