Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College courses or higher degree preferred.
• Licenses: Michigan Pharmacy Technician License types preferred; temporary license allowed with conditions.
• Certifications: PTCB or NHA; must obtain within 1 year or 3 attempts if not yet certified.
• Preferred experience: 1-2 years hospital or retail pharmacy.
• Good math/basic algebra background mandatory; as obtained through formal education or prior experience.
• ASHP / USP 797 based certification in aseptic technique preferred.
• Is an accurate, independent worker, possesses good communication skills, and, cooperates and takes direction from others.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and distribution of medication orders per physician or pharmacist request.
• Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies; restocks Pyxis and replaces outdated drugs.
• Maintains departmental security and documentation; manages records and access control.
• Triage calls, organize workload, generate reports, and handle window requests and STAT deliveries.
• Participates in quality improvement activities and inventory control within the department.
• Maintains competency and pursues ongoing training and certifications; supports supervisors and mentors others.
