Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is hiring a Pharmacy Tech I to support the procurement, preparation, distribution and storage of drugs and to assist with clinical pharmacy services for safe medication use.

The role is full-time with day shifts and a training period on the closing shift; progression to Pharmacy Tech II is possible with required board certification (PTCB or ExCPT).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school.
• High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow workflow procedures including prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution to patient.
• Restock automatic dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations as needed.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Handle medications in compliance with department, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Collaborate with pharmacy team, insurers and customers to resolve medication or insurance issues.
• Assist with basic clinical functions in support of the clinical pharmacist.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program

Acceptance into pharmacy school

One year of pharmacy or health care related experience
