Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program.
• Acceptance into pharmacy school.
• One year of pharmacy or health care related experience.
• Registration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within specified timelines.
• Certification from PTCB or ExCPT.

Responsibilities

• Follow workflow procedures for prescription processing, medication preparation and distribution.
• Restock dispensing cabinets and anesthesia workstations as needed.
• Answer and screen telephone calls and direct to appropriate personnel.
• Handle medications in compliance with department and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with pharmacy team, insurers and customers to resolve issues.
• Support clinical pharmacist with safety and adherence initiatives.
• Operate and troubleshoot dispensing systems and related equipment.
• Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas.
• Train new employees and students on job-specific functions.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited pharmacy technician-training program

Acceptance into pharmacy school

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of pharmacy or health care related experience

North Carolina Board of Pharmacy registration

Pharmacy Technician certification from PTCB or ExCPT
