Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a pharmacist to join our hospital pharmacy team on a 0.5 FTE, non-exempt basis. The role involves interpreting orders, entering into Meditech, preparing IV admixtures, and ensuring safe medication use.

You will supervise technicians, manage daily workflow, document interventions, and participate in performance improvement. Illinois license and PharmD preferred; bachelor of pharmacy required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current State of Illinois Pharmacist license required.
• Familiar with clinical literature and pediatric/adult/geriatric dosing.
• Experience with medication order entry systems (Meditech).

Responsibilities

• Interprets and verifies physician medication orders and enters into Meditech.
• Oversees preparation, labeling and dispensing of medications, including IV admixtures.
• Checks staff work for accuracy and oversees daily workflow to ensure timely service.
• Generates reports, prepares IV admixtures, and orders medications/supplies as needed.
• Ensures patient allergies are documented and monitors dosing and drug interactions.
• Provides medication information to patients and hospital staff and documents interventions.
• Participates in formulary management and pharmacokinetic dosing services.
• Responds to customer requests and contributes to quality improvement activities.
