Job summary

Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL seeks a Pharmacy Technician III to support daily dispensing operations under a registered pharmacist. The role includes inpatient medication orders, outpatient prescriptions, unit-dose work, IV admixtures, and sterile product preparation on rotating shifts.

This full-time position on the Feinberg 9th floor pharmacy may rotate to other Northwestern Medicine locations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (IDFPR).
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) via PTCB or ExCPT via NHA.
• Newly licensed Technicians have 2 years from license effective date to obtain their certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders for inpatients.
• Prepares prescriptions for outpatients.
• Picks up orders and delivers medications to nursing units.
• Schedules intravenous admixture solutions according to the patient’s medical record.
• Enters new drug orders and renewal/refill information into the computerized patient medication profile.
• Uses the computer system to assist in all dispensing and inquiry functions.
