Job summary

The Peer Recovery Coach at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA provides nonclinical, recovery-oriented peer-to-peer support to patients with substance use disorders and cooccurring health needs, using lived experience and a trauma-informed approach to promote hope and reduce stigma.

You'll collaborate with clinicians to navigate recovery supports, assist with MOUD, and help patients access housing, insurance, transportation, and community resources, while documenting services in the EMR.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts BSAS peer recovery standards knowledge
• Lived recovery experience with at least 2 years
• High school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

• Collaborate on interdisciplinary hospital care team.
• Engage patients through rapport and motivational interviewing.
• Provide nonclinical education on treatment options and recovery supports.
• Support patients during ED, inpatient, and care transitions and MOUD initiation.
• Advocate for patient goals during care planning and discharge.
• Assist patients with housing, insurance, transportation, food access, and resources.
• Facilitate referrals to treatment providers and recovery organizations.
• Respond to patient crises using a team-based approach and hospital protocols.
• Document peer recovery services in the EMR.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, and ongoing training for MA BSAS certification.
