Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Inc. in Baltimore, MD is hiring a PBX Operator to manage switchboard calls and support front-line communications across the hospital.

You will answer calls within 3 rings, transfer to the correct destinations, relay messages for physicians, and monitor life-safety systems and alarms. Proficiency in PC-based tasks and paging is required; prior switchboard experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Prefer two years of switchboard experience.
• Must possess computer/PC skills; general word processing and keyboard skills, including PC mouse, are required.

Responsibilities

• Answers calls directed to the Mercy Operator within 3 rings.
• Transfers callers to the correct destination.
• Takes and relays messages for physicians, including paging.
• Monitors alarms and life safety codes; assists with overhead paging.
• Assists with provisioning and replacement of pagers; demonstrates use of department hardware and software.
