Job summary

UCI Health in Orange, CA is seeking a Coder II to perform coding for all outpatient visits, including ED, ambulatory surgery and clinics. You will code with ICD-9-CM and CPT using the 3M encoder and SMS/Invision, and compile production reports as needed.

The role requires AHIMA-certified coding training and at least two years of acute hospital coding experience, with strong English communication and knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.

Qualifications

• AHIMA approved coding certificate completed within 12 months.
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Minimum two years of acute hospital coding experience.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code outpatient visits using ICD-9-CM and CPT.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly production reports.
• Participate in PI projects and related duties as assigned.
• Use 3M encoder and SMS/Invision systems for coding and data entry.
