Job summary

Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, part of Covenant Health, is seeking a Maintenance Worker for Plant Engineering to perform general maintenance of hospital buildings, grounds and equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma, Tennessee driver’s license, and prior maintenance experience. Local travel is expected; the position operates during the day shift, full-time, with responsibilities including electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC tasks, plus routine upkeep and safety checks.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED and be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Prior maintenance experience in a hospital or large facility is required.
• Familiarity with building maintenance techniques and crafts involved in facility upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Assist mechanics and maintenance workers with electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, batteries, boilers, water treatment and sheet metal tasks.
• Perform pick-up and delivery of supplies and equipment using department truck.
• Inspect fire extinguishers and hospital lighting and supervise general upkeep of patient room equipment.
• Paint and redecorate walls, woodwork and fixtures; prepare surfaces for painting as needed.
• Local travel to different hospital facilities may be required.
• Perform boiler attendant duties and other non-skilled maintenance tasks as assigned.
