Job summary

Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, part of Covenant Health, is seeking an Assistant Manager, Engineering to oversee maintenance and engineering activities for the hospital. The role includes supervising staff, managing projects, and ensuring safe, efficient operation of the physical plant and utilities.

The position requires 4–6 years of progressive maintenance experience with supervisory responsibilities, knowledge of power plant operations, and proficiency with computers.

Qualifications

• Four to six (4-6) years of progressive experience in maintenance work, with supervisory and management responsibilities.
• Must have a working knowledge of all power plant operations.
• Must be familiar with computers and computer operations.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safe efficient operation of the physical plant of the hospital and its utilities.
• Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of all buildings, grounds and distribution systems for the facility.
• Inspects equipment on a routine basis for quality assurance and for fire and safety issues.
• Assists in the supervision of new construction or remodeling projects, including the management of the project cost.
• Orders materials and negotiates pricing with vendors for replacement parts.
• Maintains a well arranged storeroom with an adequately stocked inventory to prevent delays in repairs.
• Makes work assignments to personnel to effectively utilize the available skill and knowledge and to maintain the overall effectiveness of the department.
• Conducts performance appraisals, counsel employees on work performance and discharges discipline as prescribed in the labor contract.

Education

Associate’s degree in a directly-related field
