Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have ability to read and follow technical procedures and recipes, and present food appealingly.
• Experience as a cook in hospital or long-term care for at least 1 year is preferred.
• Strong math skills for portion control and temperature recording.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean, and sanitary manner.
• Prepare meals in large quantities following prepared menus and portion guides.
• Record food temperatures and prepare pureed foods as needed.
• Assist with serving meals and maintain sanitation of carts and cooking areas.
• Report resident care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses and participate in staff training.
