Job summary

Baystate Health is seeking a part-time Utility Aide to support the Food and Nutrition team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. The role focuses on assembling and delivering patient meal trays, operating the dish room, and upholding high sanitation standards in a fast-paced hospital kitchen.

You will assist with food preparation and routine cleaning, ensuring patient care is supported by safe, organized processes and quality service for patients, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or Hi-Set.
• 2+ years experience in healthcare, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
• ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Tray Delivery and Retrieval: deliver carts with assembled meal trays to hospital units and retrieve soiled trays.
• Perform Dish Room Operations: manage tray assembly, cart delivery, and operation of the dish machine.
• Maintain Food Safety Standards: follow handwashing, hygiene, glove use, and temperature control procedures.
• Clean and Sanitize Equipment: wash and sanitize plates, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen areas.
• Follow Sanitation and Quality Standards: maintain temperature logs and cleaning checklists per HACCP and Joint Commission.
• Support Kitchen Ops: assist with food prep and other duties to meet department needs.
• Work as Part of a Team: collaborate with Food and Nutrition staff for efficient operations.
