Job summary

Verde Valley Assisted Living is seeking a cook to manage and operate the kitchen when the Dietary Supervisor is absent. The successful candidate will prepare meals for residents, follow menus and portion controls, and ensure sanitation throughout the kitchen.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 1 year cooking experience in a hospital or long-term care facility.
• Must obtain ServSafe Certificate.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Maintain kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Ability to prepare tasty meals and to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• Follow prepared menus and portion control guides; prepare special diets accurately.
• Record food temperatures for meals; prepare pureed foods; cooperate with other departments.
• Maintain sanitizer buckets and assist with serving meals; clean cooking area and serving carts.
• Report resident care concerns to Administrator or Director of Nurses; participate in training of dietary staff.
