Job summary

Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Lincoln Regional Center, is seeking a Food Service Worker to assist in the hospital kitchen and cafeteria operations. You’ll prepare meals, follow special diet requirements, and support daily kitchen functions to ensure nutritious meals for patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Coursework, training and/or experience in food preparation, baking and/or kitchen operations in the food service industry or related field.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience in institutional kitchen environments (hospital/long-term care), ability to independently prepare and cook meals, knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Other: Must be 18+, able to stand for 4 hours, lift up to 40 pounds, weekend/holiday work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals, including special diet requirements.
• Independently manage daily kitchen operations during assigned shifts.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen.
• Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Work as part of a supportive team with minimal supervision.
