Job summary

SolutionHealth is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes for inpatient services, ensuring compliance with guidelines and payer requirements. The role supports revenue integrity and works with leadership to resolve discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.

The position is remote within the United States, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm (flexible) with a strong emphasis on timely, compliant coding and minimizing denials.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of medical coding experience (required).
• Current CCS or HIC Coding Certification(s) (required).
• Experience with healthcare coding audits and appeals.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10 and DRG codes for hospital inpatient services per guidelines and payer requirements.
• Interpret notes and assign codes and modifiers for compliance and reimbursement.
• Ensure coding compliance with standards and documentation regulations.
• Maintain at least 95% coding accuracy through QA and audits.

The Revenue Integrity Department at the Elliot Hospital is responsible for the medical coding of our hospital and professional providers. About the Job: Remote Position M - F 8 am - 430 (can be flexible) - must live within the U.S.

The Hospital Inpatient Coder is responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services in accordance with current coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the integrity of clinical documentation and ensures timely, compliant coding to facilitate optimal reimbursement and minimize denials. The Hospital Inpatient Coder collaborates with providers and coding leadership to resolve coding discrepancies, contribute to quality improvement efforts, and uphold organizational goals related to revenue cycle performance and compliance.

What You’ll Do:

• Accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services in accordance with current coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements
• Interprets office, operative and procedure notes and assigns codes and modifiers for compliance and optimal reimbursement
• Ensure compliance with all applicable coding standards, organizational protocols, and documentation regulations
• Maintain a minimum of 95% coding accuracy rate through consistent quality assurance and participation in internal and external audits

Who You Are:

• High school diploma or GED
• 2+ years of medical coding experience, Required
• Current CCS or HIC Coding Certification(s), Required
• Experience/knowledge with healthcare coding and documentation audits and appeals
• Ability to meet deadlines consistently and reliably
