Job summary

Elliot Hospital is seeking a Hospital Inpatient Coder to accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes for inpatient services in accordance with current guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with providers and coding leadership to resolve coding discrepancies, participate in audits, and support revenue cycle goals.

The role offers remote work with standard daytime hours. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of coding experience, AHIMA or AAPC certification, and a track

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of medical coding experience (required).
  • Current AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification(s) (required).
  • Experience/knowledge with healthcare coding audits and appeals.
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently and reliably.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services.
  • Interpret notes and assign codes and modifiers for compliance and optimal reimbursement.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards and documentation regulations.
  • Maintain a minimum of 95% coding accuracy rate and participate in audits.

About the Job:

The Hospital Inpatient Coder is responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services in accordance with current coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the integrity of clinical documentation and ensures timely, compliant coding to facilitate optimal reimbursement and minimize denials. The Hospital Inpatient Coder collaborates with providers and coding leadership to resolve coding discrepancies, contribute to quality improvement efforts, and uphold organizational goals related to revenue cycle performance and compliance.

What You’ll Do:
  • Accurately assign ICD-10 and DRG codes to hospital inpatient services in accordance with current coding guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Interprets office, operative and procedure notes and assigns codes and modifiers for compliance and optimal reimbursement
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable coding standards, organizational protocols, and documentation regulations
  • Maintain a minimum of 95% coding accuracy rate through consistent quality assurance and participation in internal and external audits
Who You Are:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of medical coding experience, Required
  • Current AHIMA or AAPC Coding Certification(s), Required
