Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa is seeking a Grounds Keeper/Equipment Operator to maintain hospital grounds, including lawns, streets, and parking areas. The role involves operating tractors, mowers, blowers, and power tools, plus minor repairs and preventive maintenance.

You will work with the Environmental Services/Grounds Manager, follow safety policies, and support a safe patient and staff environment. Some evening/weekend work may be required with training provided.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• One year of nursery/landscaping or agriculture experience required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment preferred; welding experience strongly preferred.
• Must have/meets required licenses and safety certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular grounds and landscaping maintenance of MercyOne North Iowa properties.
• Assist with snow removal and ice melt application following the snow plan.
• Perform preventive maintenance on grounds equipment (tractors, mowers, blowers, power tools).
• Maintain inventory of parts and supplies for smooth operation and repairs.
• Plant shrubs, trees, and flowers; manage signage and landscaping features.
• Safely operate plow trucks, loaders, tractors, mowers and related equipment.
