Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Receptionist I for Big Spring State Hospital. You will greet visitors, answer calls on a multi-line switchboard, and route inquiries to the appropriate staff, providing courteous and professional service.

The role supports the Switchboard team, requires prior office or receptionist experience, and emphasizes confidentiality, accuracy in data entry, and teamwork. This is a full-time, on-site position with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Twelve months experience in operating an office telephone system or switchboard/console and in receptionist, clerical or data entry work.
• Must have experience in the use of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Answers and transfers calls coming into switchboard console.
• Assists visitors, patients, and family members and directs to appropriate location.
• Communicates with staff via the P.A. system.
• Attends mandatory training.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including disaster response or COOP activation.
