Job summary

Tufts Medicine in Lowell, MA is seeking a General Maintenance role to perform a range of tasks across electrical, plumbing, carpentry and preventive maintenance for hospital facilities.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least one year in building maintenance, and on-the-job training in trades. Expect a hands-on role with daily responsibilities and potential overtime to support patient care operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of building maintenance experience.
• On the job training in one or more building trades.
• Completion of a vocational/trade school program.
• Two years of building maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Performs electrical repairs such as switches, ballasts, motors and motor controls.
• Performs plumbing tasks such as drains and fixtures.
• Performs minor carpentry such as doors, shelving and locks.
• Repairs plaster, brickwork or concrete; sells or welds as needed.
• Service and preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and systems.
• Checks hospital systems for proper function (electrical power, HVAC, steam boiler, etc.).
• Maintains inventory; procures parts and keeps storage organized.
