Job summary

Encompass Health seeks a Maintenance Mechanic to ensure the reliability of hospital systems, including equipment, utilities, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. The role covers light construction, painting, groundskeeping, security, and floor care.

The position requires testing EPSS, maintaining various systems, and working with a supervisor to meet deadlines while keeping up with regulatory standards. Healthcare facility experience is a plus and physical ability to lift 50 pounds is needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction.
• Healthcare experience is a plus.
• May be required to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, or nights as needed.
• Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Safely and effectively test and operate emergency power supply system (EPSS) and its components.
• Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, oxygen, and telephone systems.
• Work independently to complete job tasks within specified time frames under the direction of a supervisor.
• Maintain skills in auto, carpentry, phone, pneumatics, stationary engineering, hydraulics, and computer systems.
• Plan, interpret, examine, draw, and record work; report daily completion to supervisor.
• Perform all types of control maintenance, building construction, repair, and equipment overhaul within required time frames.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all facility systems and applicable regulatory standards.
