Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to join our in-house Engineering team in Massachusetts. You will perform preventative maintenance, respond to service requests, inspect facilities, and help keep equipment and systems safe and reliable for patients and staff.

This role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least three years of craft experience, ability to read blueprints, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of reading blueprints and construction drawings preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Participates in a team approach for in-house Engineering by performing cross-functional tasks within licensure requirements.
• Performs preventative maintenance on systems, equipment, facilities and structures.
• Responds to Service Response Center pages to investigate and resolve calls.
• Conducts rounds and daily shift inspections of facilities and utility systems.
• Monitors Life Safety Code compliance and reports violations.
• Assists Engineering with carpentry, painting and general maintenance duties as needed.
• Detects and reports improper operation or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Collaborates with user groups to minimize disruption and addresses needs.
• Performs documentation accurately and timely.
• Determines materials and supplies needed, prepares requisitions and maintains stock levels.
• Assists with snow removal and other projects as requested.
• Maintains boiler systems if properly certified.
