Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II to maintain a clean, safe hospital environment for patients and staff. You will perform floor care, waste disposal, linen handling, spill cleanup, and general cleaning in accordance with infection control standards.

Responsibilities include sanitizing patient rooms and common areas, reporting maintenance needs, and keeping logs of activities. Prior experience in environmental services or custodial work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care.
• Ability to safely handle biohazardous and infectious waste in line with infection control.
• Familiarity with equipment cleaning, maintenance, and proper usage.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow cleaning schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care tasks (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming) to maintain cleanliness and safety.
• Collect, remove, and dispose of waste per hospital policies and guidelines.
• Handle soiled linens and maintain proper containment and storage.
• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, corridors, and common areas.
• Respond to spills and perform disinfection following safety precautions.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed for cleaning or relocations.
• Monitor supply usage and ensure safe storage and handling of materials.
• Report maintenance and repair needs to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain cleaning logs and document completed tasks.
