Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Director of Environmental Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for Environmental Services and related non-clinical support functions. You will guide a large team to ensure a clean, safe, compliant, patient-centered environment and drive performance across budgets, staffing, and service quality.

Qualifications

• Progressively lead Environmental Services in a complex healthcare environment.
• Bachelor’s degree required; two years may be substituted.
• Experience leading large Environmental Services teams in healthcare.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards, safety, infection prevention, hazardous materials, and survey readiness.
• Budget management, staffing models, labor productivity, financial performance, and operational metrics.
• Service quality, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
• Proven success improving patient experience through cleanliness and collaboration with clinical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for Environmental Services and related non-clinical functions.
• Lead a large team through managers, supervisors, and team leaders to ensure a clean, safe, compliant environment for patients and staff.
• Oversee departmental budgets, staffing, labor productivity, and service quality metrics.
• Develop and implement policies, programs, and performance standards; drive quality and efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate with Nursing, Infection Prevention, Safety, Facilities, and hospital leadership to support patient satisfaction and operations.
