Job summary

MaineHealth’s Senior Director of Engineering will lead all engineering operations and building maintenance for Maine Medical Center in Portland, the system’s flagship Level One Trauma Center. The role directs HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and related services, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 10+ years in healthcare facilities leadership, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and on-site presence to manage urgent facility needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field preferred.
  • 10+ years in healthcare facilities leadership or equivalent.
  • Experience with HVAC systems and complex facilities.
  • Knowledge of healthcare codes and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and facilities operations for MaineHealth’s flagship Level One Trauma Center.
  • Oversee staffing, workforce planning, and team development.
  • Direct maintenance programs to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local healthcare regulations.
  • Manage energy consumption, sustainability, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee service contracts and vendor relationships.
  • Plan and execute capital infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to support safe patient care.
