Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee seeks an entry-level Communications Operator to respond to and operate paging systems, emergency hotline and alarms, directing calls to appropriate locations and aiding hospital response. You will maintain links between in-house and on-call staff, patients, and caregivers, using information binders, on-call schedules and department policies.

High school diploma is required; no experience is necessary.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays and, occasionally, a variety of shifts.
• Must be able to sit for long periods and lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Responds to and operates multi-function work stations, paging systems, emergency hotline and alarm devices to answer, connect, and direct calls for hospital response.
• Provides an expeditious communication link between in-house and on-call personnel, patients, and caregivers using information binders, on-call schedules, and department policies.
• Provides and arranges for repair of pocket pagers, patient room telephones, and special needs patient telephones.
• Maintains knowledge of department and Medical Center policies, and information through review of postings, memos, and meetings.
