Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking an Electrician to join Facilities Management to maintain electrical systems up to the secondary distribution panel and support coordination with HVAC. This on-site role keeps power, lighting, and signal systems reliable across a 24-hour hospital environment.

Key duties include testing and repairing switches, wiring, lighting, conduits, and on-call responsiveness, with adherence to NEC standards and HIPAA-related confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Three years of electrical experience.
• Knowledge of low voltage electrical systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA Standards and NEC.
• Ability to read drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to apply NEC standards and hospital policies.
• Physical ability to perform tasks as listed in the job description.

Responsibilities

• Check, test, and repair faulty switches, sockets, and lighting fixtures.
• Connect wiring to fixtures and power equipment; splice wires as required.
• Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, and power circuits and equipment.
• Mount motors, transformers, and light fixtures into position and complete circuits.
• Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
• Respond to on-call system problems.
• Support HIPAA confidentiality and hospital policies.
• Assume other duties related to the position.
